The pulled pork was so delicious. The ribs were very flavorful and almost fell off the bone. The coleslaw', OMG y'all it was amazin'. The serving of okra was large and crispy. One of my favorite things about this place I know is so little but yet so big they do not water down their ranch dressing. The potato salad was in little cubes, and it was a mustard potato salad. The tea was fresh. All I can say is no complaints here. I left there fat and sassy. The waitress Lou was so nice. We always sit in her section. This is just a little Wednesday treat for us and sometimes even other days of the week. Now I know why they call it The Pig. I didn't have to put sauce on any of my meat. And I love my meat wet barbecue, that is, but there is no need to add anything to this smoked meat cause it's so good as izzzz!!! Happy eating, y'all!!!
This place is absolutely AMAZING and a must try for everyone living near & far. At 'The Pig' you are greeted immediately upon entrance and within minutes someone is at your table to take your order. You never have to guess what your server is doing because the restaurant is small and an intimate space where conversations, laughter, light banter, host taking orders, other guests being greeted as they enter are overheard. But NOT in a distracting manner; instead it sounds like love and community! Needless to say if the atmosphere is that great then the food was just as delicious. I stopped to have dinner after 8:30pm, which was near closing time, but they still made sure my order was accurate, the food was hot and every piece of sausage, rib, macaroni and coleslaw was just as tasty as it was when they first opened up. I used to eat here often 7 yrs. ago and I just returned last on night and I'm so grateful that in my opinion this place is still one of the best BBQ joints in Jacksonville. I pray that God continues to bless your business; management that controls it, the workers that sustain it and every patron that enters your doors.
Another regular stop at the pig. I had the large pig special, beef, chop fine, no fat, bottom buns, because of the diverticulitis. Great as always! Second to none!
Went to The Pig for a work meal. Everything was awesome! Service was friendly, speed of food coming out was on point... So was the price. They have a lunch menu. Average 10 -12 per person including a very large drink in one of those giant cups from back in the day. Hahaha. I don't see anyone paying no more than 15 a person to eat here.
The service, the food and the time it took to get the food to the table was on point. The collard greens and hush puppies are to die for. Someone in our party from up north had fried okra. They couldn't stop raving about them. I would go back again and again.
Really enjoy the pork plate. Staff are very down home & friendly. Not the best neighborhood(I've had no problems going there), but we'll worth the trip.
Very cool old school BBQ restaurant that I have been going to since I was a kid and I am 55 years old. The food is always consistently great . And the service is always awesome as well. Would highly recommended and will definitely be going back many times to come...
Friendly atmosphere and great food. On my last visit I had the 3 rib sandwich,fried corn , and hushpuppies for lunch. Service is quick, friendly and efficient.
